Bob Williams and Jim Gray founded
Frontier over 40 years ago. At that time the company
primarily hauled glass containers in Northern
California, in the LA basin, and between LA and
the Bay. Williams was guided by the philosophy
that excellence in on-time service was a direct
result of effective customer communication, response
to changing conditions and outstanding drivers.
Williams is noted for developing one of the first
automated trailer unloading systems that enabled
Owens-Illinois to automatically unload pallets
of glass containers directly onto Miller Brewing
Co.'s production line, eliminating the need for
forklifts in the delivery of bottles to the Miller
Brewery. William's was instrumental in developing
this cost-saving technology for Owens-Illinois
and Miller brewing Co.
Anthony H. "Gus" Osterkamp Jr. acquired the company
in 1986.
Gus Osterkamp's philosophy is simple. "Hire the
best drivers available and take care of them.
The drivers make it happen." Our driver's make
the difference.
The philosophy that Frontier was founded upon
remains to this day: Communication, Innovation,
Outstanding drivers, and On-time service.
In 2008, Fred Sotoodeh became Vice President
of Frontier Transportation, and Ray Takeda was
named General Manager.
Bob Williams, the founder, still visits with drivers
that drove for Frontier while he owned the company.
Our drivers make the difference.
